About me
Hello, I’m Julia. I’m a firm believer that compelling stories aren’t always conventional ones.
I left high school at sixteen and started taking classes at my local community college. By nineteen, after a few solo trips, I knew I needed to leave Los Angeles—at least for a while. I ended up living in Australia for several years, and later spent a few months traveling through Vietnam on a motorcycle I bought and named Thumper. In total, I spent five months in Southeast Asia before returning to LA.
I’ve always had an interest in design and photography, and during COVID I began working in a creative role focused on visual storytelling. Throughout that time, my desire to see the world stayed at the center of my life. That sense of adventure has taken me on some life-defining trips, from trekking alone across the Himalayas for 21 days to staying in a yurt in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and exploring remote regions of Georgia.
I recently decided to attend classes at Santa Monica College while maintaining my current job to pursue my passion. My goal is to transition into a career focused on documentary work and photojournalism, with an emphasis on human rights and stories that create social impact. My long-term vision is to create work that sparks dialogue and fosters human compassion. I value the connections formed through each journey and hope my work reflects what it means to be human.
